Janice Protano

A retired choral/musical theatre and drama director from a public high school in New York who scored a national dance hit in 1982, entitled “You Shouldn’t Do Me Like That” on the Importe 12/Cyclops label.

She appeared on two albums produced by WPDH radio and lent her voice as one of the Soupettes, featured on the Soupy Sales Show on WNBC-AM radio. Along with Robert Sim she has written four full-length musical comedies and four full-length musicals for children’s theatre.

Jan was awarded the Cab Calloway Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006 for her 36 year dedication to musical theatre and music education.
